In his book, “Thus Spoke Zarathustra” Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche proclaims “God is dead”. Religion is no longer the center of life leaving humanity in a state of nihilism. Nihilism which may only be overcome by becoming higher humans and striving to become super humans, which is the next stage in human evolution. We must beware of becoming ultra-humans who bask in the fruits of technology and no longer strive to make themselves better.
More than a century later we find humanity falling into the trap of the ultra-human, no longer able to think for themselves and falling into a zombie like herd mentality connected to each other with the hive mind of the internet. Higher humans are few and the goal of the super human may be lost.
But what if the super human is not human? What if the next evolutionary step is AI? Similar to the positronic brain in “I Robot” by Isaac Asimov which eventually outsmarts humanity and takes over.
The process started a long time ago. The outcome is inevitable. The only thing left to do is sit back and watch. Or…
